These healthy shrimp tacos are just simple and tasty. The slaw topping gives it a wonderful creamy, lime zing that everyone loves.
You’ll make your own homemade taco seasoning for this recipe (it’s super easy and way healthier than the packets). If you want to make up a bunch of seasoning so you can use it for other recipes without making it every time, follow this recipe for taco seasoning.
Ingredients
Shrimp Tacos
- 2 lb shrimp thawed
- 1 tsp Chili Powder
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- 1/8 tsp oregano
- 1/8 tsp paprika
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 1/8 tsp pepper
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- 2 Tbsp avocado oil or extra virgin olive oil
Sauce and Slaw
- 1/4 cup avocado oil
- 1/4 cup plain yogurt
- 1/2 cup green onion thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup cilantro chopped
- 1 Tbsp bottled minced garlic
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 4 Tbsp lime juice
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 head green cabbage
Toppings
- 2 avocado diced
- 2 jalapeno sliced or diced
- 8 corn tortilla
Instructions
- Heat oil in a large skillet. Mix shrimp with seasoning (chili powder thru cayenne). Cook shrimp in 2 Tbsp. avocado or olive oil 5-8 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Combine remaining 1/4 c. avocado oil, yogurt, and next 6 ingredients. Reserve 1/2 c. sauce and set aside. Mix remaining sauce with 1/2 head green cabbage, shredded.
- Add shrimp to tortillas, top with slaw, avocados, jalapeños (if desired), and a little more sauce if desired.

The tortillas aren’t listed as part of the recipe. Which low carb tortillas did you use?

The tortillas we used in this recipe are corn tortillas. They aren’t low carb. They’re actually listed under “toppings” in this recipe. Sorry for any confusion.
