Stop it. Just stop. Nutella is like crack. There’s no way it can be clean eating nutella. So just stop right there and stop feeding me lies, delicious though they may be.
Wait. What?
You’re not actually lying?
But, how?
The answer, my friends, lies in the ingredients list. Use healthy, unrefined, ingredients that are prepared in your own kitchen rather than in a laboratory (or factory) and you can have your crack and eat it too. Or cake. Or Nutella. You know what I mean. Nevermind.
Ingredients
- 1/2 lb hazelnuts
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup cocoa powder
- 1 cup coconut oil
- 1/3 cup pure maple syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350. Spread hazelnuts on a baking sheet. Bake 12-15 minutes. Allow to cool a little. Using a paper towel, gently roll the paper towel over the nuts to coax the skins off of the nuts. Discard skins. Add nuts and salt to a food processor or high speed blender. Process until smooth, scraping the sides as needed.
- Melt coconut oil in microwave. Add oil, cocoa powder, maple syrup and vanilla extract to hazelnut butter in blender. Blend until well combined and smooth, scraping sides as needed. Serve immediately or store at room temperature.
