Instructions

  • Crust: Add liquid ingredients to the bowl of a stand mixer. Add dry ingredients, except yeast, taking care to place the salt on the edge of the dry ingredients. Make a small well in the center of the dry ingredients. Add yeast to the well. Fit mixer with dough hook. Turn mixer to speed 1 and let mix until a dough ball is formed and the dough ball cleans the sides of the bowl (about 5 minutes). If dough is too wet, add a bit more flour, 1 Tbsp. at a time, and allow it to mix in. If dough is too dry, add a bit more tepid water, 1 Tbsp. at a time, and allow it to mix in. Dough should be springy and soft, and not sticky.
  • Spray two cake pans with cooking spray. Divide dough in half and roll each half to about 12” in diameter. Place dough in pan, and press into bottom and up the sides of the pan. Repeat with other half of dough and other cake pan.
  • Sauce: Heat oil over med heat until hot. Reduce heat to med-low and add garlic. Let cook about 30 seconds, then add sauce. Stir well, and cook 3 minutes. Spread sauce on prepared dough in pans.
  • Toppings: Top sauce in pans with cheese. Follow with remaining ingredients. Bake at 400 10-15 min or until edges of crust are brown and cheese is melted and bubbly. Allow pizzas to sit 5 minutes before cutting.
  • Side Salad: Arrange greens in 4 bowls or plates. Top with cucumbers and tomatoes. Sprinkle with pepitas. Drizzle with dressing.
  • Creamy Garlic Salad Dressing: Combine all ingredients in a blender. Blend until smooth and creamy.

  1. I haven’t tried this deep dish version yet. I do love the regular crust pizza though so I’m sure this is just as good!
